LACONIA CITY COUNCIL MEETING

 

LACONIA CITY HALL – ROOM 200A 7:30 P.M.

 

MONDAY, JANUARY 14, 2008

 

 

WELCOME:

 

            City Clerk, Ann Kaligian opened the Inauguration Ceremony.

 

 SALUTE TO THE FLAG:

 

            Mayor Lahey led the salute to the flag.

 

MUSICAL SELECTION:

 

            The Laconia High School Concert Choir sang the “Scotland the Brave” and the “Rowan Tree”.

 

INVOCATION:

 

            Father Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of St. Joseph Church gave the invocation.

 

INTRODUCTIONS:

 

            Mayor Lahey introduced Senator Sgambati, State Representatives and distinguished guests.

 

INTRODUCTION OF THE 2006/2007 COUNCIL MEMBERS:

 

Mayor Lahey introduced the following council members.  Councilor’s Brad Fitzgerald, Robert Luther, Henry Lipman, Brenda Baer, Robert Hamel and Armand Bolduc.

 

COUNCIL SESSION:

 

            Mayor Lahey opened the regular meeting.

 

            Councilor Fitzgerald moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of December 24, 2007 and Public Hearing of January 7, 2008.

 

Mayor Lahey presented a watch to Councilor Fitzgerald and thanked him for all he has done for the city and as a member of the Joint Council and School Building Committee.

 

MUSICAL SELECTION:

 

            The Laconia High School Concert Choir sang “Salute to America”.

 

INTRODUCTION OF 2008/2009 CITY COUNCIL:

 

            Mayor Lahey introduced the following councilors: Greg Knytych, Robert Luther, Henry Lipman, Brenda Baer, Robert Hamel and Armand Bolduc.

 

CEREMONIAL SWEARING IN OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL:

 

            City Clerk, Ann Kaligian swore in the Council for a term from 2008-2009.

 

INAUGURAL ADDRESS:

 

            Mayor Lahey gave his Inaugural Address.

 

COUNCIL REMARKS:

 

             Each City Councilor spoke briefly about the past accomplishments and future goals of the Council.

 

COUNCIL SESSION:

 

            Mayor Lahey called the meeting to order.

 

NOMINATION OF MAYOR PRO TEM:

 

            Councilor Knytych nominated Councilor Bolduc. Seconded by Councilor Hamel. Councilor Bolduc was unanimously elected.

 

COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS:

 

            Mayor Lahey announced the committee assignments. (Copy attached to official minutes.)

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

            On motion of Councilor Hamel, seconded by Councilor Bolduc, it was voted to adjourn at 8:50 p.m.
