Responsibilities/Functions:

 

• Building, electrical and demolition permits relative to the building code.  Investigate complaints relative to unhealthy or unsanitary conditions relative to health laws and regulations.

• Conduct inspections of all new building construction or rehabilitation within the City.

• Interpretation and enforcement of the BOCA Building Code, National Electric Code, existing structure code and health laws and regulations.

• Investigate all complaints regarding substandard housing.

• Follow up on all complaints and appear in Court as needed.

• Coordinate inspection and permit process with the Fire, Public Works, Planning, and Water Departments.

• Health Officer - Investigate complaints relative to unhealthy or unsanitary conditions relative to health laws and regulations.  Conduct inspections of day care facilities and foster homes.
