Located in Belknap County in central New Hampshire, the City of Laconia is 25 minutes north of the state capital Concord and 90 minutes north of Boston. Laconia's public school system has 3 elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. Lakes Region General Hospital is located in the center of Laconia. Within the City of Laconia are Lakeport and Weirs Beach. Neighboring towns to Laconia include: Meredith (northerly); Gilford (easterly); Belmont (southerly); and, Sanbornton (westerly).
As Laconia's nickname suggests, the city is in the heart of New Hampshire's Lakes Region. The bodies of water adjacent to Laconia are Lake Winnipesaukee (the state's largest lake), Lake Winnisquam, Opechee Lake and Paugus Bay (part of Opechee Lake). All told, Laconia has 19 miles of lakefront shoreline on four different lakes with 5 public beaches and 150 acres of Parks and Recreation facilities.
