Function:
The Mayor and City Council, with the assistance of the City Manager, are responsible for the administration of daily City business involving both the public and private sectors.
City Council: (City Council Minutes)
The City Council meets the 2nd & 4th Mondays of the month; the City Clerk attends all meetings, recording, transcribing and filing the minutes. The meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. in the main City Hall Conference Room (Second Floor, room 200A) unless otherwise specified. The City Manager is responsible for the preparation and presentation of the annual City budget to the Council. The Manager’s office also receives and directs all correspondence for the Council and is responsible for the preparation of the agendas and related materials for all Council meetings.

The City Manager, at the direction of the Mayor and City Council, oversees all City departments. The Manager’s office is also the central location for the receipt and distribution of correspondence received for all City departments. The office prepares proclamations and maintains listings of Boards and Commissions. The Manager’s office also maintains a variety of reference resources.
City Solicitor:
The City Solicitor is the legal counsel to the Mayor, City Council and City administration. Authorization to contact the City Solicitor is through the City Manager’s office.
Economic Development:
The City Manager’s office also serves the needs of local business and industry in order to maintain and enhance the local job and tax bases. The office recruits new business and industry to Laconia. The office is a resource for general information and specific data as well as for advocacy with local and State agencies, including Belknap County Economic Development Council www.bcedc.org
