Function:

The purpose of the Laconia Public Library is to provide all members of the community access to materials which can improve their minds, broaden their lives, and fulfill their cultural, civic, intellectual, educational and recreational needs and which encourages that access and uninterrupted study of those materials.

An important part of the Library's effort is to develop a collection of reference materials in a variety of formats which will serve the reference needs of the community.

Additional emphasis will be to provide preschool children with early childhood experiences in reading which will foster life-long reading habits.

Library Cards:

A free library card is available for the City of Laconia residents and non-resident Laconia taxpayers, as well as anyone working within the City limits. A non-resident family card is available for a $30.00 fee per year. A one-year free student card is available for anyone attending a local college, such as New Hampshire College. A one-year free card is available to any teacher in the Laconia School District.

Circulation of Materials:

All materials circulate for two weeks, EXCEPT some new fiction (7 days) and video cassettes (3 days).
