Application Period to Open: Fiscal Year 2009 Assistance to Firefighter Grants
The Department of Homeland Security has posted the FY2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program Guidance on the AFG Website. The application period is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Applications for these grants must be received by Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

Eight Fire Officials Selected For Harvard Senior Executives In State & Local Government Program
The U.S. Fire Administration announced today the selection of eight senior fire officials for fellowships to attend the Harvard University's Senior Executives in State & Local Government Program this summer at the John F. Kennedy School of Government.

2009 Arson Awareness Week Theme Announced

USFA announces the theme for Arson Awareness Week: Arson for Profit.
USFA and its partners will use the week of May 3rd to the 9th to focus public attention on the alarming statistics about Arson for Profit and hopes to expand the resources and support necessary to reduce this crime.
