City of Laconia Planning Department
Downtown Traffic Change
For years now the City has been parsing out the idea of changes to the downtown traffic pattern to help alleviate congestion and provide the driver with more choice in navigating the down town business core. In the summer of 2010, in conjunction with new preliminary plan to rebuild the Main Street Bridge over the Winnipesaukee River, and the drafting of a new architectural ordinance the Planning Department hired TEC Engineering from Lawrence, Ma to complete a Downtown Traffic Study and make recommendations for changes to the traffic pattern.
A preliminary Traffic Study was completed in September to specifically address Main Street Bridge changes. Click here to view the report: Beacon and Main Report 9-14-11. This report was based on a conceptual drawing done by the City's Architectural Ordinance consulting team, Ironwood Associates.
The final Traffic Study was completed in January 2012 and looked at Beacon Streets East and West, including intersections at Church/Beacon St East and Pleasant/Veterans Square/Beacon St West. Click here to preview the link: Final Traffic Study
