City of Laconia Water Department

In 1955 the City of Laconia purchased the Laconia Water Co. (Laconia Systems) and the Winni Water Co. (Weirs System) and established the Water Department under Chapter 99 of the City of Laconia Public Ordinance.

This ordinance established a five member board to manage the department consisting of 3 citizens of Laconia, a member of the city council, and the public works director. The Board of Water Commissioners operate the department as an enterprise fund, relying not on tax dollars but rather on revenues generated from the sale of water.

The objective of the Water Department is to provide customers with inexpensive and reliable water while meeting all state and federal water quality requirements.
