Temporary Traffic Order
MOTORCYCLE WEEK 2011

According to the provisions of Chapter 221, Section 53, the Laconia City Council does hereby adopt the following temporary traffic control order.
The following are exempt from this order:
a. State, County and City Public Safety Vehicles, State and City vehicles, vehicles contracted by the City for the purposes of collecting solid waste and servicing portable bathrooms and vehicles contracted by the City to provide for public transportation for the purposes of loading and unloading passengers, and
b. Delivery vehicles providing daily service to Lakeside Avenue businesses between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., and
c. 4-wheeled vehicles that display a lawful handicapped license or insignia with the intention of discharging passengers, provided the vehicles are not permitted to park, and
d. Private solid waste and sanitation trucks intended to service private property.
SATURDAY, JUNE 11, 2011, beginning at 8:00 AM THROUGH MONDAY, JUNE 20, 2011 AND ENDING AT 8:00 AM
1. Lakeside Avenue shall be "one way" for motorcycles and 4-wheeled vehicles northbound from Route 3 to Foster Avenue.
2. There shall be no left turn from Lakeside Avenue onto Tower Street.
3. There shall be no right turn from Tower Street onto Lakeside Avenue.
4. There shall be no left turn from Tower Street onto Route 3 (right turn only).
MONDAY, JUNE 13, 2011, beginning at 8:00 AM THROUGH SUNDAY JUNE 19, 2011 AND ENDING AT 5:00 PM
1. Lakeside Avenue shall be "one way" and motorcycles only northbound from Route 3 to Foster Avenue.
2. The enforcement of parking meters on Lakeside Ave. is hereby suspended effective 8:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11 through Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.
3. Single lane motorcycle parking on Lakeside Avenue shall be permitted, perpendicular to traffic along the curb in authorized and marked parking spaces beginning at Route 3 and ending at Tower Street on the east side of the street and beginning at New Hampshire Avenue and ending at Foster Avenue on the west side of the street. Single Lane motorcycle parking on Lakeside Avenue shall also be permitted, perpendicular to traffic along the curb in authorized and marked spaces from meter number 214 through meter number 221, on the west side of the street.
4. Double centerline parking on Lakeside Avenue shall be permitted in spaces marked with roadway reflective tape.
5. One observation tower shall be permitted to be placed on Lakeside Avenue near its intersection with Tower Street on Friday, June 10.
6. No such parking shall block or interfere with designated crosswalks, intersections, dumpsters, porta-potties or any other like equipment.
7. The first six parking spaces on the east side of Lakeside Avenue, beginning at the crosswalk just north of New Hampshire Avenue, shall be reserved for Progressive Insurance.
8. The no parking zones on Tower Street between Lakeside Avenue and Maple Street and Weeks Street shall be suspended and reserved for State, City and/or County public safety and/or municipal vehicles and porta-potties on Friday, June 10.
9. The wooden bridge between Lakeside Avenue and Centenary Avenue shall be closed to all motor vehicle traffic.
10. Warner Street shall be one way from Route 3 to Tower Street.
11. Tower Street shall be closed to through traffic approximately 100 feet west of Maple Street.
12. Doe Avenue and Warner St. north of its intersection with Tower St. shall be closed to all through traffic.
13. There shall be no left turn from Tower Street onto Route 3.
14. There shall be no parking on Ashley Drive, Colonial Road, McKinley Road, Pine Notch Circle, Regis Road, Rollercoaster Road, Rolling Lane, Summit Ave., Wentworth Cove Road, Woodvale Drive and Plantation Drive.
15. There shall be no parking on Lakeside Avenue between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
THURSDAY JUNE 16, 2011 beginning at 8:00 AM THROUGH SUNDAY JUNE 19, 2011 ENDING AT 5:00 PM
1. Items 1 - 15 are in effect from June 13, 2011 through June 19, 2011 and listed on pages 2 & 3 of this order.
2. There shall be no through traffic on Lucerne Avenue with the exception of residents, visitors and vehicles already exempt by this order.
3. The Weirs Channel Bridge shall be closed to all 4-wheeled vehicles for the times and dates listed below, with the exception of tour buses, State, City and County public safety vehicles, City and State municipal vehicles, and designated public transportation vehicles. There shall be no left turn from NH Route 3 at its intersection with Weirs Boulevard onto NH Route 11-B, with the exception of tour buses, State, City and County public safety vehicles, City and State municipal vehicles, and designated public transportation vehicles.
Thursday June 16, 2011 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM Friday June 17, 2011 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
Saturday June 18, 2011 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
Sunday June 19, 2011 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
4. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the closure of the bridge to 4-wheeled vehicles can be extended at the discretion of the Police Department.
In addition to traffic, this order hereby suspends and or waives off street parking requirements for temporary uses as authorized by City Ordinance Chapter 235-42, G, (3).
MODIFICATION:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to modify, amend and implement changes to this order should public safety, pedestrian and/or motor vehicle traffic conditions warrant any such amendment or modification, provided any such amendment or modification is in conformance with RSA Chapter 265 "Rules of the Road" as amended.
